Hear My Voice

A courageous exhibition that breaks the silence surrounding menopause.
A subject that catches many women unprepared, menopause is often experienced in isolation and without open conversation. Through this exhibition, the artist confronts the topic head-on, expressing her intense emotions through instinctive, deeply personal paintings created “from the gut.” Using the iconic Barbie figure as a symbolic vehicle, she gives visual form to her inner thoughts, struggles, and reflections.

In collaboration with photographer Shani Nechmias, the artist staged and participated in a series of photographs, carefully directing scenes that explored the themes she wished to bring into the spotlight.

The exhibition employs clever wordplay, such as “Bella Bella,” transforming the Hebrew term associated with menopause from one carrying negative connotations into bella meaning “beautiful” in Italian. Through this linguistic shift, the artist challenges the unflattering labels society often attaches to this remarkable stage of life.

Her goal was to bring the subject into public discourse, encourage dialogue, raise questions, and invite reflection. The project represents a bold departure from her comfort zone, surprising the loyal audience that has followed her work for years.

For the artist, art is not merely an aesthetic pursuit; it is a powerful voice a means of communicating ideas and emotions that are often difficult to express in words. By addressing an important yet frequently overlooked topic, the exhibition makes complex experiences accessible to a wider audience and opens the door to meaningful conversation.
